This is a phrase that is commonly used, but few can define it.
What are Soft Skills anyway?
Wikipedia says that they are also known as common skills or core skills. They are skills that are desirable in all professions. These skills include critical thinking, problem-solving, public speaking, professional writing, teamwork, digital literacy, leadership, professional attitude, work ethic, career management, and intercultural fluency, among others.
They are fading quickly. Soft skills begin when two individuals meet for the first time. Eye contact, acknowledgment, and a handshake (replaced by many with a fist bump or elbow bump) commence a relationship. In today’s world, setting aside and/or turning off a cell phone in the presence of another is a huge step toward communicating “you have my attention.” The rest is easy – listen and engage.
